Now, Indian Institute of technology will also produce Doctors with the Engineers. on Friday, this decision was taken in the meeting of IIT council headed by Human resource development minister - ' Kapil Sibbal' .
Earlier Health ministry had rejected the proposal of opening of Medical college in the IIT, because IIT Act recommends only the teaching of Engineering in the IITs. Now, Government will add Medical and Engineering in one way.
Kapil Sibbal told that, all have agreed to have the study of medical in IITs. After the change in the Act, 15 IITs will have the power to open Medical Infrastructure. He also told that, in the major Institution of the world , various types of study takes place simultaneously.This is the need of time.
IIT kharagpur might be the first IIT to have medical study, beacause IIT kharagpur had recommended the Plan of opening of medical college in IIT. IITs have to fullfill all procedure that a medical college needs to have. they have to take permission from MIC.
Today India have 315 medical college, where 5 to 10 lakhs spend to have the degree of Medical , Today India need 6.5 lakhs doctors.
