IPL UPDATES ON PLAYER CONTRACT IN SEASON 4

DETAILS ON VARIOUS TEAMS IF IPL AND THEIR CONTRACT AMOUNT There would be 70 league matches plus four play-off matches with each team playing the same number of matches (14 of which 7 would be home and the other 7 away) as in the previous IPL editions, said BCCI secretary N Srinivasan in a release after the IPL's Governing Council meeting in Mumbai.  "There will be one league table with teams divided into 2 groups of 5 teams each," the BCCI secretary said. The IPL GC also decided to allow the original eight franchises to retain a maximum of four players, including three Indians, and fixed a salary cap of USD 9 million for each franchise to spend at the next players' auction set for the middle of November.  Player contracts will be for a period of two years plus a one-year right of extension by franchise. Deccan Chargers will feature younger players in the season four of the Indian Premier League and the team would be scouting for talent in local tournaments, the franchise's vice-President E Venkat Reddy said on Friday.  "Deccan Chargers is one of the popular teams in India. Players are ready to come and play for Deccan Chargers. In season four also Deccan Chargers will do good.  We will have a younger side and two or three experienced players to guide them for the next two, three years," Reddy said.  IPL SEASON 4 1. Total of 74 Matches will be Played in season 4 of the IPL. 2.IPL Player auction will be held in the 2nd week of November. 3.Total 4 player , including 3 Indians can be retained by the franchiees. The fourth edition of the Indian Premier League will have 74 matches, in stead of 94 matches, the Governing Council decided on Sunday. The existing format of home and away league ties followed by two semi-finals, a match to decide 3-4 places and the grand final, a total of 94 matches, has been done away with. Ten teams, including two new teams - Pune's Sahara Warriors and Kochi franchise, will take part in the edition. The match-fixing scandal that has rocked Pakistan cricket got murkier on Monday with reports of more games being rigged as a rattled ICC promised "appropriate" action against players found guilty after investigations.   The sting operation carried out by British tabloid 'The News of the World', which implicated seven Pakistani players including captain Salman Butt, has opened a Pandora's box with fresh reports suggesting that the opening Test between England and Pakistan and the January Sydney Test between Pakistan and Australia could have been fixed.  The ICC top brass had a teleconference to discuss the issue after which it was made clear that Pakistan's T20 and ODI series against England will continue as scheduled. Sehwag rises, Dhoni loses top spot in ICC ODI rankings

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni lost his number one spot but opening batsman Virender Sehwag gained eight places to return to the top-10 at eighth in the ICC ODI rankings issued on Sunday.  India held on to the second spot in the team rankings despite losing the tri-series final to Sri Lanka last night. Sri Lanka, sixth before the series, are just behind India, and in front of South Africa, who drop to fourth, when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.  New Zealand drop to sixth from fourth as Australia, at the top, and England, in fifth spot, remain unchanged. In individual rankings, Tillakaratne Dilshan broke into the top five of the batting chart. Dilshan's match-winning effort of 110 in the final against India Saturday night was enough to earn him a three-place boost in the rankings and he now sits in fourth position, level with Hashim Amla of South Africa. Sachin in top five for ICC People's Choice Award

S enior India batsman Sachin Tendulkar is one of the five cricketers who have been shortlisted for the first LG People's Choice Award to be given away during the ICC prize distribution function in  Bengaluru on 6th October   The other four shortlisted players were Mike Hussey of Australia, Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka, England captain Andrew Strauss and South African AB de Villiers, an ICC release said on Monday.  The award category, which has been included for the first time this year, will be chosen by cricket fans around the world who now have a chance to vote for their favourite player until 10th September, the release said. Airtel wins Team India home series sponsorship rights

Telecom giant Bharti Airtel on Friday won the Indian cricket team's home series sponsorship rights for a period of three years. Airtel won the sponsorship rights for all the three formats of the game for a period starting from 1st September this year to 31st March, 2013 for a staggering Rs 3.33 crore per game. The deal was finalised after a meeting of the Cricket Board's (BCCI) marketing committee in Mumbai on Friday. "Bharti Airtel has won the Series Sponsorship Rights for the period of 2010-2013 with a bid amount of 3.33 crore per Test/ODI/T20 International," BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said in a statement. Airtel won the rights from sports management firm World Sports Group (WSG), which was not permitted to submit bids this time. According to the deal, Airtel will also get to advertise its brands on prime spots at the grounds and even the stumps will carry the company's brand name.
